Do worm infections and malaria play a role in COVID-19 protection ?

When the SARS-CoV-2 virus reached the African continent, experts feared a very high mortality rate among the population. Fortunately, this turned out differently. The low mortality was initially thought to be due to the young age of the population and fewer comorbidities, however, this does not adequately explain the invisible protection.
