Africa Needs to Produce its own Antivenom

The need for production of antivenom, especially in the countries where snake bites occur is important. This documentary and interview highlights the challenges faced by those living in endemic areas, using Baringo district in Kenya as an example. Prof. Achim Hoerauf, in his new role as the  re-elected speaker of the German network against Neglected Tropical Diseases (DNTDs) was interviewed. Prof. Achim Hoerauf, speaks on how diseases are included into the NTD list by the WHO, and the advantages of a disease being included in this list. He also talks about the other NTDs like Dengue, Schistosomiasis and Leishmaniasis amongst others,  the access to medication, antivenom and vaccines.
